A Day at Brookfield Zoo

Mom, Nuch and I have a membership to Brookfield Zoo, and it has more than paid for itself. There is always something new to see here and the zoo is great about bringing in special programing. Today, Cookie the Coctatoo, one of Brookfield's original animal's turned 75! Whoa! And they had a little party for him. Without a membership, Brookfield can be a bit pricey as some exhibits like the Dolphin show, Children's Play Zoo, and the Butterfly exhibit all cost a few dollars extra (even for members). Therefore, the price factor knocks down my rating to four stars.

Chicago Summer Dance

On Thursday, June 26, 2008 we accompanied Nuch to her Au Pair meeting which was being held at Grant Park in conjuction with Chicago Summer Dance. If you are looking for some free summer time fun that is different, my pick for the family is Chicago Summer Dance. They have instructors that will teach you the dances, but you don't have to pay attention to them if that is not your fancy. Tonight's muscial guest was Gazsa, a Hungarian Folk Band.

Remember though that parking in the Grant Park area is at a premium. For less stress and more fun, I recommend one of the main trains that will drop you right off in the middle of the fun for a fraction the cost of gas, and no traffic to slow you down.

The Chicago Park District has a lot to offer but one park worth special attention is Hale Park located at 6258 W 62nd St. The play lot has play islands from which to choose. The have a great selection of slides and bridges which are ever so fun. It provides baby swings for those not yet walking and the rest of the equipment will appeal to all kinds of kids from wee babes to the biggest kids.

Hale Park is also a popular spot where beautiful girls gather! Sorry Nuch, I just can't help myself I love blondes!

But! I haven't even mentioned the very best thing about Hale Park! Feast you eyes on the wonders of the...

In a word, AWESOME! The water is very shallow and I was able to go down the water slide into the water all by myself! Okay...that was a bit of an accident, but I had fun.

For more information on the hours the Splash Pad and Pool are open, please stop by the facility or visit Hale Park on the Web.

There are, however, a few things to bare in mind while visiting this park. Parking space is not vast as the majority is parallel street parking. Also, the fieldhouse is not air conditioned so don't plan of it being a haven from the heat.

Though for its pint size friendliness, ease of location and cost effective price (ahem...FREE!) I'm giving it a 5 star Rating!

Nuch is so creative. She found these lovely balloons and we had a great time.
